On Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 16:30 h an extraordinary concert will take place at the Unterägeri Parish Church.

The first part of the 2015 choral gala is devoted to a cappella music, which will be performed by the Leonardo Ensemble, an ensemble of 28 singers directed by Nicholas Fink, and the Audite Nova Choir, with around 100 singers directed by Johannes Meister.

In the second part of the gala the Mass in D major, op. 86 by Antonin Dvořák will be performed in the original version for choir and organ.  The choir will consist of 300 singers from all over Switzerland.  Having prepared the work beforehand they will gather in Unterägeri for the weekend to rehearse and perform this work in concert under the direction of Simon Halsey.

This concert offers an opportunity of experiencing not only Simon Halsey, “one of the greatest choral conductors” of our time (to quote Simon Rattle), but also the renowned Zug composer and organist Carl Rütti, who will be playing the organ part.

Because of the large number of performers performing at varying times, only the middle section of the church with 600 seats can be opened to the public.  Consequently booking tickets in advance is recommended.
